Match Report
As this was originally a blank weekend one or two players had taken the week off. However the team that took to the field had a good feel about it.
As I (Jim Dixon) was away this Saturday due to a commitment I had made several weeks ago when I also thought this was a blank weekend I am unable to submit a detailed report. Suffice to say it doesn’t make for good reading because they lost not only the match but also their unbeaten run.
The half time score was 31-5. The second half appeared to show them in a more competitive mood loosing by 15-12 which saw the final score as 46-17.
Apparently not the best performance, certainly in the first half, but much better in the second half. Scrum-half Harry Drew, making his first team appearance for a considerable time put in a good shift and Matt Pilbeam playing his first start wearing the 10 jersey acquitted him self well although there was a bit of inexperience showing on occasions.
They did loose Sam Floyd to a yellow card for 10 minutes. Portsmouth’s scorers were as follows, Brad Atkins, Harry Drew, Matt Higgins, with one conversion by Matt Pilbeam.
Next week sees Portsmouth return to League matches with an away game to Gosport & Fareham.
